Luke Osborne 

Technical Director, Electrical Safety First

Luke leads the Charity’s electro-technical team. Prior to joining us in October 2023, Luke was Energy and Emerging Technologies Solutions Advisor at ECA, covering areas such as renewable energy and storage, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, and emerging energy trends, as well as advising on energy policy issues.

Apprenticed with the Ford Motor Company, Luke has held various engineering roles as well as owning and operating a renewable energy installation company. He has a long history in engineering, sustainability, and renewable energy and an active representative on numerous committees guiding growth and direction in these areas.

Stephen Curtler

Product Safety Manager, Electrical Safety First

Steve joined Electrical Safety First in 2005, after holding a number of senior positions in the electrical industry for over 30 years. He is responsible for the product safety activities of the Charity, working in partnership with industry, government, local authorities and other key stakeholders. He also represents the interests of UK consumers on a number of European and national Technical Committees.

Teresa Arbuckle
Managing Director, Beko plc

Teresa Arbuckle serves as Regional Managing Director and Vice President for the UK & Ireland at Beko Europe, the newly established home appliance company founded after the 2024 European merger agreement between Beko and Whirlpool Corporation. 

 

With over 25 years of diverse experience in general management and international marketing, Teresa has held key leadership positions across various industries. 

 

Teresa's journey with Beko PLC began in 2011 when she was appointed Marketing Director for the UK & Ireland, contributing to growth of many of the Beko brands, including Beko, Blomberg, Leisure, Flavel and Zenith.  She assumed the role of Managing Director for the UK & Ireland in 2015, where she has successfully led the company's development, doubling the size of the business and achieving #1 Beko brand and #1 Group positions in her tenure.   

Teresa has also chaired AMDEA the white goods trade association since 2018. Before joining Beko, Teresa held significant roles in renowned companies such as Premier Foods, LeapFrog Toys, H.J. Heinz, Danone, and Kimberly-Clark. Teresa holds an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.  

Outside of work, Teresa enjoys speaking French and Spanish, jogging, traveling, visiting museums, and mentoring and coaching young leaders. Her diverse interests reflect her passion for continuous learning and personal development. 

Judith Peacock

Group Technical and Health & Safety Director, Dixons Carphone

Judith is the Group Technical Director at Dixons Carphone - which includes Currys PC World and Carphone Warehouse in the UK, in addition to businesses in the Nordics and Greece. Her remit includes overseeing the quality and safety of own-label and licenced branded products, responsible sourcing, and health and safety for the UK and Ireland.

Judith has worked in the electronics and electrical industry for over 25 years and prior to working at Dixons Carphone, she was employed by Tesco as a Technical Manager and latterly in after-sales, including customer helpline, repairs and product returns.

 

Wendy Middleton

Deputy Director Science, Engineering & Analysis, Office for Product Safety and Standards

Wendy has worked in the civil service for 16 years. A biologist by background, she started out by managing Defra’s animal welfare research programme. She then spent seven years working on bovine tuberculosis, eventually as head of science in Defra’s bTB programme.

From there she went to work with Defra’s Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA), Professor Sir Ian Boyd, before moving to DECC (now BEIS) in 2015 to work with their CSA, Professor John Loughhead. More recently she was Head of Science for Climate and Energy, before moving to the Office for Product Safety & Standards (OPSS) in August 2018, to create and lead their new Insights Unit. In June 2020 she was appointed  Deputy Director for Science, Engineering & Analysis.
