Details
A cordless angle grinder with lithium batteries and chargers, supplied in a black carry case with red closure clips.
The product presents a high risk of electric shock as the plug face does not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363. The distance between the neutral pin and the outside edge measured too small allowing the user to access live parts when plugging in, or unplugging, the plug from the socket. The product also presents a risk of fire as the fuse had friction fit end caps and did not contain a ballast, meaning it would not provide the necessary protections under fault conditions. Additionally, the internal build quality was deemed inadequate as the charger had poor quality soldering with wires soldered directly to the PCB and the transformer was of a poor build quality because the primary and secondary windings were found to be touching.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, or the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.
