The product has been recalled as it presents a risk of electric shock due to having a plug that does not meet the requirements of BS1363-1. When tested, it was found that the thickness of the live and natural pins was 4.16 & 4.21 mm, exceeding the maximum of 4.05mm. The breadths of the live and neutral pins were 6.56m & 6.53m, exceeding the limit of 6.48mm. Also, the dimensions of the sleeved parts of the plug pins differed from the metal parts of the pins. This resulted in a distinct step between the two. This could cause damage to the socket and undue wear and tear to the sleeve. Overall, the inadequate plug pins on this product results in a risk of live wires touching other parts within the plug and potentially causing an electric shock. There is also a possibility that the inadequate plug pins could result in overheating, and consequently also poses a risk of burns.
The product does not comply with The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
