Details
The product is an electric hot plate for barbeques. It is a black coloured item with a cylindrical shape hot plate and a rectangular base. There is a black knob to adjust the temperature on the black base. A noncompliant plug is attached to the item. The product is supplied in a cardboard box with a brown background.
The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as the requirements for Class II construction have not been met, with accessible conductive parts separated from live parts only by basic insulation. This could allow accessible parts to become live over time should the insulation break down. If a user were to touch an accessible live part, they could experience an electric shock. The product also did not have any provision for earthing; failed the electrical strength test; and was supplied with a noncompatible plug, amongst other technical faults.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
