The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as the earthing terminal is not adequately locked against accidental loosening; the earth connection had not been made between bare metal; the resistance of the earth path exceeded the limit; and there was access to live parts when the jack is raised to close the heated plates. The product also possessed a counterfeit plug which was too small and the fuse did not contain any granular filler. The supply cord was also noncompliant due to the cable’s cross-sectional area being less than the minimum permissible.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.
