Comment on Sandwell Council Referring Themselves to the Social Housing Regulator

Lesley Rudd, Chief Executive of Electrical Safety First commented: “We welcome the decision from Sandwell Council to refer itself to the Regulator of Social Housing following the discovery of insufficient electrical safety checks in the homes they manage. Incidents such as these are concerning, and they highlight the benefit of introducing 5 yearly mandatory electrical safety checks.  We urge the Government to take heed and to introduce 5 yearly mandatory electrical safety checks for the social housing sector which would provide clarity for social landlords and tenants."
