Commenting on dangerous products identified for sale via Wish.com not being removed for sale, as part of a BBC Watchdog investigation, Lesley Rudd, Chief Executive of Electrical Safety First commented: “It is extremely concerning to see dangerous products still available for sale after being reported. These items pose a serious risk of harm to those who purchase them and are illegal for sale to UK consumers. The Government must step in to protect online shoppers from the real threat substandard electrical goods pose as existing legislation is clearly not providing the protection that consumers need and deserve. The Online Safety Bill provides the opportunity to put this protection in place and ensure online marketplaces are responsible for preventing the sale of dangerous goods via their sites. I urge the Government to include the sale of dangerous electrical goods in this Bill”
