Electrical Safety First responds to the consumer group Which? investigation into reporting dangerous products on online marketplaces:
Lesley Rudd, Chief Executive of Electrical Safety First commented: “These concerning findings highlight the continued failure of online marketplaces to effectively self-regulate. The voluntary Memorandum of Understanding previously signed by these companies holds no legal weight whatsoever and as such there is no real obligation for them to stick to their own promise.
Electrical Safety First’s own research supports that of Which? and we urge the Government to adopt our proposal to make online marketplaces legally responsible for preventing the listings of dangerous products to tackle this relentless problem .”
