Why is my wiring red & black?

The UK changed the standard wire colours in 2004: The live Red becomes Brown The Neutral Black becomes Blue The Earth wires continue to be Green and yellow

The UK changed the standard wire colours in 2004:

  • The live Red becomes Brown
  • The Neutral Black becomes Blue
  • The Earth wires continue to be Green and yellow
