There is no legal requirement to have a set number of sockets in each room in a rental property.
But with increased use of electrical appliances, older homes in particular often do not have enough sockets to allow modern households to use them all without relying on adaptors, which is not ideal.
We have produced a guide that has recommendations for the ideal number of sockets for each room, but this is guidance only. You can download a copy here.
If you want to add more sockets, we always recommend using a registered electrician to do the work. You can find one in your area here.
