In the UK work should be guaranteed for six years from the date of delivery or installation (this is five years from the initial discovery of a fault in Scotland). If something fails before this period then you should go back to the electrician who carried it out. If they will not fix the problem, you can contact their scheme operator for help.
The electrician will be able to determine why something has failed and it may not necessarily be a fault in the parts or work, but they will be able to consider these factors and advise you accordingly.
