About us
Electrical Safety First is the UK’s leading charity on electrical safety, and they regularly work with the media, government, businesses, and electrical industry to make sure that everyone in the UK can use electricity safely. They campaign on issues including product safety from e-bikes to e-scooters, product recalls and registration, housing standards, the importance of using registered electricians as well as the risks associated with counterfeit electrical goods. They do this by raising awareness with the public through consumer awareness campaigns and working with politicians and stakeholders to ensure Government is doing all it can to keep people safe from electrical accidents.
About the role
This role combines research, outreach, and grant management skills to drive Electrical Safety First’s mission to reduce deaths, injuries, and electrical accidents, particularly for society’s most vulnerable.
As a Research and Outreach Officer, you will help manage the Charity’s grant scheme programme that funds community-based initiatives to raise awareness and reduce risk, helping to support local organisations to create tangible change in their communities. You’ll support the Charity’s research initiatives and identify opportunities for impactful projects, develop robust methodologies, and translate findings into high-quality reports that influence policy and practice.
Your role also involves strengthening outreach initiatives, engaging with local government, mayoral offices, and community leaders to raise awareness of their work and disseminate resources to those in need. You’ll arrange and coordinate the Charity’s participation in community events, ensuring their safety messages reach key stakeholders and those most at electrical risk.
