About us
Electrical Safety First is the UK’s leading charity on electrical safety, and they regularly work with the media, government, businesses, and electrical industry to make sure that everyone in the UK can use electricity safely. They campaign on issues including product safety from e-bikes to e-scooters, product recalls and registration, housing standards, the importance of using registered electricians as well as the risks associated with counterfeit electrical goods. They do this by raising awareness with the public through consumer awareness campaigns and working with politicians and stakeholders to ensure Government is doing all it can to keep people safe from electrical accidents.
About the role
In this exciting new role as Legislative Advisor, you will work closely with their Public Affairs and Technical teams on legislation and standards to advance the Charity’s UK-wide policy agenda, with the opportunity to shape the scope of your impact. You’ll work on high-profile policy issues across government departments to drive change - from holding tech giants like online marketplaces accountable for unsafe products to shaping policies that protect the most vulnerable from electrical risks. Whether tackling substandard housing or cracking down on dangerous appliances, you’ll help ensure electrical safety remains a priority on the political agenda.
You’ll lead on analysing and shaping legislation to make homes safer, directly supporting their mission, championing electrical safety across the UK. You’ll review and draft on current and upcoming regulations, bills, and policy guidance, and build strong relationships with political party legislative teams to establish Electrical Safety First as a key player in shaping legislation at all levels.
